Beware of a scam that is beginning to be scene in multiple states. The scam involves sending a letter to the victim.
The scam begins with a letter that informs an individual that they will be receiving a $1000 or more dollar check in the mail from Social Security. It then states that before the check can be sent, the government needs to verify your information and asks to you fill out sensitive private details about yourself. Some scams even ask you to send money as a fee before you the larger amount is released.
Do not fall for this type of scam. If it seems wrong, it probably is.
